This isn't your typical "don't touch the artifacts" museum experience. The History Clubhouse was designed specifically so kids can learn about St. Louis by actually doing it. It’s a completely enclosed, safe, and—best of all—FREE space where history feels like one big playdate.

Why Kids Love Traveling Through Time
The Clubhouse is divided into several "zones" that represent different eras and locations in St. Louis history. My kids always dive straight into:- The 1904 World’s Fair: Kids can step behind the counter of a fair-style cafe to serve up "frozen treats" or hop aboard a life-sized trolley.
- Steamboat on the Mississippi: Take the wheel of a massive steamboat! This is a huge hit for active play as they "navigate" the river.
- Ancient Cahokia: Long before the Arch, there was Cahokia. Kids can explore a traditional dwelling, go "fishing" in the river, and learn about the Indigenous people who first called this region home.
- Building the City: In the downtown section, there are blocks and architectural tools so kids can build their own versions of iconic St. Louis skyscrapers.
Programming & Storytimes
If you have a preschooler, you have to check out their weekly programming!- Storytelling in the Museum: Every Tuesday and Friday at 10:30 a.m., they host a 30-minute session with stories and songs.
- Cuentos en el Museo: This is a fantastic bilingual (Spanish-English) storytime held on the second Saturday and fourth Friday of each month.
- Process Art: They often follow up story time with a craft or art project in the back of the Clubhouse!
