It's Rhett's first Fourth of July!
I feel like COVID-19 can be blamed for so many traditions being cancelled this year, including our fourth of July. We still watched fireworks (from the driveway), ate fried chicken (that I fried instead of King Edwards) and decorated the mantle with flags and ferns.
This year I found my old flag scarf and swagged it across the mantle. I used a mason jar to hold three little flags and the cute little red wagon that held flowers from J's work when Rhett was born. J found this sweet fern on sale at the grocery store a few weeks ago and decided that it needed to come home with us. I switched the pillow cases out for the red and navy stripes and added a cute red and white throw in the basket on the hearth.
Even though this Fourth of July didn't look like the big party, watching the parade and fireworks on Main Street like we usually do, I don't think Rhett had any clue of what he was missing.
