Sugar Cookie Bars

Do y'all remember on class party days there someone always brought those sugar cookies with brightly colored icing topped with tons of sprinkles? Those were my favorites!! And in case you want a better tasting cookie, but that same delicious thick frosting, you need to try this recipe from Made It, Ate It, Loved It! Seriously, so so good!

Sugar Cookie Bars

Sugar Cookie Bars
1 1/2 cup sugar1 cup butter, softened
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 egg, at room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon baking powder
3 1/4 cup flour, sifted

Cream sugar, butter, and cream cheese until smooth. Add egg, vanilla, and almond extract. Combined flour and baking powder in medium mixing bowl. Add flour mixture to sugar mixture until blended. Spread into pampered chef bar pan ( I use a 10X8X1 inch pan). Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes or until looks done. Do not overcook or the edges can get too crispy.

Frosting
1/2 cup butter, softened
4 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Cream all ingredients together and spread on slightly cooled sugar cookie bars. Top with sprinkles. Then serve.
