Edwardsville Children’s Museum | Indoor Play Places around St. Louis

Welcome to Day 12 of 21 Days of Indoor Play! Today we are headed across the river to a spot that packs a massive amount of heart into every square inch: the Edwardsville Children’s Museum.

If you are looking for a museum that feels like a "hometown" experience rather than a giant, overwhelming institution, this is it. It is perfectly sized for younger children to explore independently while you stay close by. From a child-sized pizza parlor to a cozy indoor forest, Edwardsville Children's Museum is a true gem.

Imaginative Play

The indoor space is designed to encourage self-directed, open-ended play. My kids always gravitate toward:

The Pizza Parlor: This was a huge hit! My kids loved taking orders and "baking" pizzas for everyone. It’s such a fun, interactive station for practicing social skills and turn-taking.

The Treehouse & Cabin: These are so cool and really bring the outdoors in. There are bird puppets, animal figures, and even a station that makes realistic bird sounds! It feels like a little woodland retreat.

The Car Ramp & Light Table: In the large main room, there is a popular car ramp for racing and plenty of open-ended toys like Magnatiles on the light table and a ball ramp to keep little hands busy.

Lego Area: If you have a builder, head upstairs to the small Lego nook for some focused construction time.

The Little Forest Sanctuary

If you are visiting with a baby or young toddler (18 months and younger), you have to check out this new addition. It’s a nature-inspired sensory area that is soft, safe, and specifically designed for the smallest explorers.

While they have a beautiful Discovery Garden outside, we love this as a cold-weather indoor destination because it’s so easy to keep track of multiple kids in this cozy space.
