Welcome to Day 3 of 21 Days of Indoor Play! If you live in or are visiting St. Louis with kids, The Magic House in Kirkwood, MO is likely already on your radar—but if you haven't been lately, you might be surprised at just how much it has grown.
As a mom of three, I’m always looking for spots that can entertain a toddler and a big kid simultaneously. The Magic House is one of the few places that truly masters this. From the iconic static electricity ball to the massive outdoor play garden, this museum is a "choose your own adventure" for families.

Why My Kids Love the Children’s Village
The heart of the museum for us is the Children’s Village. My kids could honestly play here for days and never get bored. My boys head straight for the fishing pond and the mechanic shop to "fix" the cars in the Children's Village. My daughter is obsessed with the newborn baby hospital, where she can practice being a doula or momma! It is the ultimate space for imaginative play, and because it’s scaled down to their size, they feel totally independent.
STEAM & Creative Spaces
For my oldest, the technology and creative working spaces are the big draw. This area is packed with:
- Legos for master builders.
- A full Art Studio with rotating supplies.
- Science experiments that make learning feel like play.
If you have a kiddo who loves to tinker, they will spend hours in the Construction Zone. The rock pit and the working diggers are always a fan favorite!
Is it good for babies?
YES. One of the best features for a mom of three is the dedicated baby and toddler wing. It’s gated and soft, making it a safe haven if you are juggling a crawler and older siblings.
This museum easily serves kids ages 0–10, and you could definitely push it to age 12 if your older kids enjoy the Maker Space and complex science exhibits.
