While I have never been to a Great Wolf Lodge, I'm no newbie to indoor waterparks at hotels. The majority of our family vacations as a teenager were to Wisconsin Dells and to several of the indoor waterparks there. When looking for places to stay, I compared prices between Airbnbs and other hotels. The prices were all around the same. However, I watched for weeks for a coupon and found one for 50% off a room and booked! With that price, it was cheaper than booking a regular hotel, but with an waterpark included!
A really great amenity of Great Wolf Lodge is that you can check-in "early", even if your room isn't ready, and have access to the waterpark. Your room just so happened to be ready when we arrived early and check in was extremely easy. The room wasn't anything super fancy, it had double beds and a sofa couch. I wouldn't say the rooms were super nice, but they were clean and functional.
We immediately went to explore the waterpark after check-in. While it is smaller than some of the ones in the Dells, it was still a lot of fun for our young family. There were several other families there, but I won't say it was overly crowded. Because of Rhett's height, it limited him from doing some of slides, but there were plenty of other options for him to do. The lazy river was on the smaller side, as was the splash area for little kids, but for a few hours of indoor water park fun, this was good for us this time.
Before bed, we participated in a story time in the main lobby. Our kids were exhausted from all the adventures for the day so we didn't stay for the whole thing, but we loved that it was an option! In fact, there were several activities throughout the day that we could have stopped by and participated in. I loved that at check in they sent us a text with all the happenings that day and the times so we could participate if we chose to.
In the morning, we grabbed coffee in the little cafe- it was terrible, I do not recommend. But, we did eat breakfast at the restaurant they have on site. This was completely opposite of the little cafe, and actually really good. They had an omelette station, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, bacon, potatoes, fruits, and so much more. The scenery was also really cute. We sat in a cabin and the kids just that was the coolest thing ever. It is cheaper to buy the breakfast meal tickets when you're purchasing your room, so I would encourage you to do so if you think you want to eat on property.
Check out was at 11 and it was an extremely easy process, too. Even after check out, you're able to stay and play at the waterpark until close that day! We enjoyed our stay at Great Wolf Lodge and can't wait to come back!
