We recently borrowed Sometimes Cake by Edwina Wyatt from our local library. It’s about two friends, Audrey and Lion, who find joy in marking small moments together, with the help of balloons and confetti and drums and games and hats! If you’re looking for a reason for cake, then this book provides the cutest justification!
When I remembered it was National Read Across America Day, I was fully connived we should go all out for the day that encourages one of our favorite hobbies - and one of my favorite authors when I was still teaching in the classroom. I set out a few of our Dr. Seuss books, put up a few streamers and balloons and made one of the cutest Dr. Seuss theme breakfast!
I made green eggs by mixing 1/2 cup fresh spinach and 3 eggs in a blender then scrambling like normal. I added some ham to the pan at the very end to warm it up, too. I read Green Eggs & Ham during breakfast.
I attached little yellow mustaches to clear cups and filled it up with orange juice to make it look like the Lorax!
After breakfast we made these
super cute Oh, The Places You’ll Go inspired cookies! When they were all finished, we got dressed in our Grinch shirts and made our way to the library to deliver some of these cute cookies to our favorite librarians.
For snack time, we ate colored goldfish and read One Fish, Two Fish and read some new books we borrowed from the library.
Did you do anything fun for Dr. Seuss Day or Read Across America Day?
