You've prepped the nursery, washed and folded all the newborn clothes, and finished creating your birthing preferences sheet, but have your prepared anything for yourself for your own healing after birth?
Birth, while such a beautiful thing, can sometimes be traumatic on the mother’s body no matter how peaceful the birth is. There’s typically swelling and soreness for the first few days. I love having these padsicles on hand to help the healing process of the perineum! They’re super simple to make and the cool relief is so nice!
I love LaveDerm Cooling Mist for so many reasons. It’s great for burns or dry skin, but it’s something I always keep in the bathroom during 4th trimester. It has an herbal, calming scent with notes of Lavender, Northern Lights Black Spruce, and Helichrysum essential oils, all which support skin healing by adding an instant moisture that leaves skin with a cooling and soothing sensation.
You’ll want to make these before birth, I suggest around 38 weeks to make these and have them on hand in the freezer.
To make these, you will need:
-organic cotton pads
-postpartum herbal sitz bath (I like Earthley's, but you can use any high quality brand)
-LaveDerm Cooling Mist
1. Boil water and place 1 herbal sitz bath package in hot water. Let steep 15 minutes. Then let water cool down to room temperature.
2. Open your pad up and ladle 1-2 spoonfuls of tea mixture onto the pad. It should absorb all of it.
3. Spritz with Lavederm Cooling Spray 3-4 sprays.
4. Fold pad back up and place in plastic bag in freezer until after birth!
