Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House | Things to do with Kids In St. Louis

It was 11 degrees outside today and we wanted to escape somewhere warm! What better place to go than the Butterfly House conservatory? Because we have a membership to the Botanical Gardens, we got to go to the Butterfly House for free.

The actual conservatory is large and you could spend a good bit of time in there, especially if you enjoy sitting, enjoying the scenery, and watching the butterflies.

Strollers are not permitted inside the conservatory, so make sure you bring a baby wrap!

In addition to the conservatory, there is a little classroom designed for young learners focusing on butterflies! Walls are lined with shelves of books of all levels about butterflies and caterpillars. Three tables are set up with puzzles and pictures of butterflies with magnifying glasses. This was a really fun area to spend some additional time and play with some items we don't have at home (or maybe we do but in a new place they're better).

During the warmer months there is a little outdoor area that is a short walk around the pond. There's a several things to explore outside - with plants labeled, the pond, and musical area, too.

While the Butterfly House is not huge by any means, but it's just enough to keep my little ones engaged for a short morning outing... and keep us warm on a cold day.
