Even when there is not a designated event, each library has a special children's area with things to play with, technology to explore, and of course, lots of BOOKS!
This weekend, we took a family trip to the Kathryn Linnemann Library in St. Charles, MO. This used to be "our library". I spent so much time here as a college student at Lindenwood University, when I was prepping lesson plans after I graduated, and then when J and I started dating and needed a cheap place to sit and chat quietly. It has changed a bit since we had been, so I didn't remember the children's section being so big! It was huge!
Coming into the Children's Area, we were greeted by the librarians. They were so friendly, showing us where we could find different things throughout that section. The "bigger kids" books were on the right while early readers and new picture books were on the left. There was a little "writing area" where there was plenty of colors, writing utensils, paper and coloring sheets for little ones to play with. The mailbox caught R's eye and he was excited to put pieces of mail inside. There were a few ipads and headphones with engaging apps preloaded for children of all ages.
Board books and picture books lined the walls, with covers facing out, which made it easier to choose a book. A play kitchen with food, a few tables and seating options, and a train track.
There were several big book options and then walls filled with audiobooks, non fictions books, and DVDs. Seating options were plentiful throughout for those that wanted to snuggle up with a newfound book.
We love our weekly trips to the library to check out new books, and play with all the fun toys and technology!
