I've been inspired by the Montessori learning approach since I learned about her theories back in college. While I'm not completely sold on all aspects, I do love the wooden toys aesthetic, fostering a sense of independence, and the absorbent mind of a child.

Because I do believe children have super absorbent minds, we started asking Rhett where his (insert part of the face) was, then touching his face part around 3 months old. I recently added these cute little cards to his things to play with, and surprisingly they are one of his favorites.
They were super easy to make and I plan on making different sets for him to play with like familiar faces, farm animals, fruits and vegetables.. just different things he's interested in.
First, I took a few close up photos of his face on a white background. Then, I imported them into Photoshop and added a white rectangle at the bottom to label what each part was.
I used Shutterfly to print them in 4x4 cards, but you could also print them on your own at whatever size you'd like.
Once they were shipped back to me, I used these self-seal laminating sheets to make them more durable and really just water resistant so he could chew on them. He's been playing with them basically non stop for the last few weeks and there hasn't been any damage to them!
