Fenton Indoor Play at the Meramec Valley Branch Library

Welcome to Day 20 of 21 Days of Indoor Play! We have officially reached the end of our series, and I saved one of our absolute favorite "hidden gems" for last. If you are looking for a completely free, high-quality indoor escape in Southwest County, you have to spend an afternoon at the Meramec Valley Branch in Fenton.

This isn't just a place to check out books; it is a full-blown discovery center that feels like a mini-museum tucked right inside your local library.

The Discovery Zone: More Than Just Books

The children's area here is incredibly bright, open, and designed for hands-on exploration. It’s one of those rare spots where "quiet voices" aren't strictly required because the play is so engaging!

The Magnetic Gear Wall: This is a huge hit with my boys. They can spend an hour rearranging the colorful gears to see how they interact and spin. It’s a brilliant (and stealthy!) way to introduce basic engineering.

Interactive Light Table: Perfect for younger kiddos, the light table features translucent blocks and shapes that make sensory play feel magical.

STEM to Go

The learning doesn't have to stop when you leave the building.

STEM Kits: This branch has a fantastic selection of STEM kits you can actually check out with your library card! From coding robots to microscope sets, it’s the perfect way to extend the "indoor play" vibes at home.

Cozy Reading Nooks: When they finally wear themselves out on the gear wall, there are so many adorable, kid-sized nooks where you can curl up together and read a few new finds.

Outdoor Access: If the weather is nice, there is a beautiful paved path and green space right outside the branch to let them run before you head home.
