Cleaning Routine for Wednesday

Today is Wednesday, which means in my cleaning rhythm, I’m focusing on our living room, family room and foyer!

Your living room is the heart of your home, a place where family and friends gather to relax and make cherished memories. Keeping this space clean and inviting is essential for creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

We love to open our home to others, so while we’re cleaning, we pray for all those who enter that The Lord bless them and keep them; the Lord make his face shine on them and be gracious to them; the Lord turn his face toward them and give them peace.

Since we spend a lot of time in our living room as a family, we also pray over ourselves, that everything we say be good and helpful, so that our words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.

When I clean our living room, family room and foyer, I start out by making sure I have all the supplies I'll need. These are the items I use on Wednesdays:

1. Thieves Multi- Surface Cleaner

2. Microfiber cloths or paper towel: to wipe surfaces without leaving streaks or lint behind.

3. Duster or dusting wand: for reaching high and low spots, as well as delicate items.

4. Vacuum cleaner: Make sure it's equipped with appropriate attachments for cleaning upholstery, curtains, and floors.

5. Mop and bucket: To clean hard floors, if applicable.

First thing, declutter. Some how our living room becomes a dumping ground for all items that don't have a home, or toys and random shoes that we haven't put away. I start by removing any clutter from the living room. This includes items like magazines, toys, books, and any other miscellaneous items that may have accumulated. If I can't find a proper place for these items or, if they are no longer needed, to the trash or Goodwill they go!

Once all the clutter and items are put away, I dust and clean the surfaces. This is a great task for little ones. I love wearing the dusting mitts and helping dust everything. I start at the top and work your way down. Dust ceiling fans, light fixtures, and any high shelves or decorative items. Don't forget to dust window sills and frames.

Then, I wipe down the coffee table, end tables, and any other hard surfaces with a damp microfiber cloth or paper towel. Dust and wipe down your TV screen, remote controls, and any electronic devices you have in the room. Organize and tidy up the cables and cords, securing them out of sight if possible.

Every other week, I vacuum the couches and chairs to thoroughly to remove dust, pet hair, and crumbs. About once a month, or as needed, I pull the covers off my Ikea couches and run them through the wash.

I wipe down the windows and the window sills that inevitably get dirty every week.

Finally, I vacuum the living room floor, including under furniture and in corners, and make sure that everything is back in it's rightful place!

I hope that you have a great Wednesday- that the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.
