Jesus Over Everything Book Review | 2023 Reading Goal

I needed this book in this season. I admire Lisa’s ability to balance both being gentle and straightforward in her writing. I love her reminders of serving others and loving others like Jesus loved us… even when it’s not the most fun or in the most celebrated roles.

One of my favorite quotes of the book is, “There’s a difference between creatively presenting Jesus to reach the world and cleverly presenting Jesus to attract people to our talents. God has to be our compass on that but don’t think people won’t sense the difference between the two.”

Wow! As a creative, especially one who has worked on the marketing team at our local church, it was such a good reminder that my work should point others to Jesus… not to the talent or abilities I may possess. I love that Jesus designed His people to be creative and when we creatively present Him to the world, it draws their hearts closer to Him.

This book was a beautiful and sometimes challenging reminder that all that I do should point others to Jesus. Jesus over everything.
