In the Discovery Room, there's so many things to do and learn together. Children are self-guided through the space, able explore the multiple exhibits. There's shelves with several open ended toys to build whatever their imagination desires!
The STEaM Easel was a favorite of ours! You can pain on the "glass" and when you're finished, spray the artwork with water and wipe it off with a squeegee. Another table was set up with various mediums to create other works of art.
A water table with toys inside can be differentiated for the youngest children to solving more problems with waterproof STEM cards for older children.
Pictures of various environments and cards of animals to match to their environment, with several books to read about the topics was set up on another table. Life cycles were also explored here with plastic frog eggs, tadpole, tadpole with legs, froglet, and adult frog.
Black matter, kinetic sand, was set in a sensory table with construction vehicles. This was one of my favorite places, in fact I ordered kinetic sand while sitting here playing!
The massive space ship with the slide was very popular! They loved counting down to blast off in the microphone.
Board books that coordinate with open ended toys are spaced throughout the environment and on the shelves next to the windows. Magnatiles, Tegu, and wooden blocks are at one station for children to build with.
A wind tunnel with multiple scarves is available to explore one of nature's forces.
Our littlest friends aren't left out in the Discovery Room, there's a special crawler corner designed for those who aren't walking just yet with several developmentally appropriate toys.
On the back wall is space to build a ball ramp along the magnetic board.
A grocery store for imaginative play is in the back corner, filled with play food, cash registers, scales, and clipboards.
You can observe hissing cockroaches and a tarantula in the tree house. There's little monkeys and several books about Jane Goodall inside, too.
Magnifying glasses and various rocks are set out to explore at another table.
The saltwater aquarium is one of the coolest things! It's so beautiful and relaxing to watch all of the fish and coral.
I was really impressed by this space and so thankful it's available to us here in St. Louis! I can't wait to take the boys back another time soon. Have you been? Would you go? Let me know!
