I tried the "best snickerdoodle cookies ever!" recipe from Pinterest and while they were chewy, they were so flat, despite chilling them in the fridge for over two hours. The taste was really great, but I was really disappointed in how much they spread. Instead of sharing that recipe, I'll share the tried and true snickerdoodle recipe from J's grandma. These are so yummy!
MawMaw Oliver's Snickerdoodles
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 1/3 cups unbleached flour, sifted
2 teaspoons cream of tarter
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Mix together the margarine, sugar and eggs until creamy.
Sift together remaining ingredients and stir into above mixture. Chill dough.
Shape into balls the size of small walnuts and roll into mixture of 2 teaspoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon.
Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 400, 8-10 minutes until lightly golden brown.
