It's hard to believe that our baby boy will be here in around two weeks or less. I feel like these last months have the longest months, but also the quickest months ever. It's weird to think about these last few days are the last times of just Justin & I. There won't be another time of just the two of us because even when the kids are grown and on their own, we're still going to be only a phone call away.
I'm looking forward to just getting to hold him in my own arms and watching his personality develop. J is looking forward to all the new family things we get to do and letting him experience our traditions, while also creating new ones.
When we told everyone that we were expecting, we shared from Colorado.
The views from that trip was my inspiration for his nursery. We used the vintage travel posters, hunter green (the darkest color I have in our whole house), and more neutral colors to keep the calm and clean look that I love.
I love his little crib that just looks so manly to me. All the kid furniture I've ever seen has been pink, or white, but Rhett's a really pretty greyish brown. His crib, from Joss & Main, is a convertible bed that will turn into a toddler bed and then full size bed when he's ready for it.
The tufted linen color glider and ottoman can be purchased from Target. It sits underneath two shelves of books. Often times I find J sitting in the chair reading or studying for his small group lesson. Teddy still enjoys laying on that white faux rug that used to be in that room when it was still my office. We've gotten in the habit to read to Rhett almost every night so he gets used to his daddy's voice.
The plush animal head mounts make my soon to be boy mom heart so happy. The buffalo looks like he's always having a bad hair day and the bear just looks so friendly. I'm debating on a third, but for right now, we like these two. I can't wait for Rhett to come up with a name for them. The buffalo can be purchased from Hobby Lobby and the bear is from Target.
The white dresser is from Ikea and is a pain in the butt to put together. Plan on investing around 6-8 hours in assembly. BUT, I really love the way it looks and how much storage it has. The gold round mirror above the dresser is another purchase from Target. The shelf is from Ikea, as are the little bottle brush trees (they were a Christmas find), and the vintage lantern lamp.
The black lantern picture and both quote pictures are all from Hobby Lobby. The triangle picture is a nod at one of J's favorite authors, J. R. R. Tolkien, from his infamous book Lord of the Rings.
The wooden toy camera was purchased off Etsy.
We're pretty smitten with the whole room, but my favorite part will be the faux board and batten that I did on the wall behind the crib. Eventually I'll get around to writing about that, but it was pretty easy to do and I think makes a big impact on that wall overall.
