Carrara Marble Bathroom Floors for $50

I have loved the Carrara marble for a while now, but it was always too expensive, so it's been on the "wish list". When I cam across these Carrara Marble peel and stick vinyl tiles at Home Depot for only $50 for our entire bathroom, I knew I could handle that price point and still have some money for decor pieces.

I loved these tiles for a so many reasons.

One, the look. Two, the price.

But three, it's grout-able!!

Here are the supplies you will need:

Box Cutter

Putty Knife

Pre- Mixed Grout
(I chose alabaster, but I think Bright White or even the Delorean Gray would look good with the Carrara)

The first thing we did was remove the toilet. If you don't know how, here's a great tutorial video

You will need to clean your floors really really good. Because my floor was level, I did not need to take the old vinyl flooring off the subfloors.

Next, I laid all the tiles out of the floor with the tile spacers to make sure I liked how they were arranged. Once I liked the pattern, just peel off the backing and stick them where you want it to go!

Cutting the tiles were pretty easy. I used the back of one sheet of tile and traced the area that need to be cut. Then, I put that sheet on top of the vinyl, traced it with a washable marker and cut it out using a the box cutter. Easy peasy!

If you've made any errors and didn't have perfect spacing, don't worry. The grout is very forgiving.

Once all the tile was laid, I went ahead and started grouting. It's really as easy as it looks on the back of your premixed grout tub.

Using the putty knife, put some grout on the hard-edged rubber grout float. At a 45-degree angle, spread the grout in a sweeping motion, pressing it into the joints to fill them completely.

When it's all filled, hold the grout float at a 90-degree angle angle and remove any excess grout.

Using the damp sponge in circular motions, wipe the tile down.

After it dries, there will be a slight haze on them. Use a damp cloth to wipe it off.

Lastly, caulk along the edges of the walls, shower and tub.

Stand back and admire your work!
