I'm going to make a bold statement and say that if you've ever read any of "Best Christian" dating and marriage books, then you need to read this book.
I have always hated the book Love & Respect. I'm absolutely disgusted by some of the things recommended to couples on the basis of things being a "biblical duty" and excusing abusive relationships as the wives are just "not respecting" the husband enough. But, it's not just Love & Respect, there's several other books that share similar advice (ones we even have on our bookshelf), degrading marriage down to just a sexual relationship, which is not at all the way God designed marriage at all. This book breaks down the"advice" of many Christian marriage and relationship books, showing how it has hurt Christians' sexual experiences within marriage, and how we can fix it.
This book lead to mannnny long conversations with J about how we, as Christians, have devalued marriage, sex, and men and women alike, as well as strengthening our own marriage.
There is a LOT to unpack in this book, especially if you have heard or read other Christian marriage books, but has been one of my favorite reads so far this year.
