When our friend Sam asked if I could help her plan her sister a surprise birthday party I was all in. One hundred and ten percent... because I've never gotten to plan a girl's birthday party and because we absolutely love Maddi. All my experience has been boy birthdays, boy baby showers, or weddings. This was completely new territory that I couldn't wait to waltz in. What's even better, Maddi has always loved playing fairy and watching the Barbie fairy movies with her sisters when they were younger.
Using 2 1/4 inch PVC pipe, we staked them in the ground and created arches. We wrapped silk ivy around the pipe and then attached silk pink and purple wisteria. They looked so dreamy blowing in the wind!
Candles and LOTS of fairy lights lit up the space once the sun went down to create the most magical fairy garden.
If you've been to an Oliver gathering, you know we love these little ham and cheese sammies. This time I added a turkey, white cheddar, tomato and pesto one. It was so good!
Rice Krispies dipped in chocolate and glistening sprinkles.
We also had dips with pita chips and pretzel thins that I somehow managed to miss getting a photo of.
Did I mention that it was a surprise? I told her to come over because Rhett baked her a birthday cake, but come through the back door because I had just finished mopping the foyer... and she completely believed it!
Her daddy and brother surprised her by being in town early and completely built this beautiful 12 foot table in a matter of minutes.
Happy Birthday, sweet girl! We hope it was everything your little fairy heart desired!
