Use Our BRAINS

I get 1-2 messages a week asking my opinion on something pertaining to pregnancy, birth, or postpartum.

While of course I have an opinion, as a doula, I try to be unbiased in providing nonjudgmental educational support. I will not make decisions for you! If you’re met with a routine standard practice in pregnancy that makes you uncomfortable or an intervention during birth, I can remind you to use our brains. ðŸ§  No, not in a sarcastic way either! I encourage you to ask your provider these questions so you can give informed consent:

🧠B: What are the benefits?
🧠R: What are the risks?
🧠A: What are the alternatives?
🧠I: What does your intuition tell you? What’s your gut instinct say?
🧠N: What happens if we do nothing?
🧠S: Can I get a second opinion?

You know your body the best and you are it’s best advocate. If you have questions, ask them!
